On Saturday, October 14th, guided tours will be held at the Copper Foundries of Valpelline and the Saint-Jean Gallery in Ollomont, in addition to open sessions at the Archaeometallurgy Laboratory. The tours will start at 2:30 PM, with departures scheduled every half hour until 4:30 PM. Visitors can meet at the entrance parking lot to the village of Valpelline, in the Chez le Chuc area, to be guided to the sites.
For those wishing to reach the Valpelline Play Area from the Mining Site, a walk of about 1.5 km is planned. Suitable clothing is recommended for the journey. Visits to the Ollomont mine, including the Saint-Jean Gallery, require a short walk on a trail with an elevation gain.
Reservations are mandatory for all activities, except for the demonstrations at the Archaeometallurgy Laboratory, which will be held continuously throughout the day. For visitors’ convenience, a free shuttle service between Valpelline and Ollomont is provided. In case of bad weather, some activities may be subject to changes.
The event will conclude with a friendly meeting at 5:45 PM at the Attilio Rolando Area in Valpelline, with greetings from the authorities and a Vin d’honneur. Please note that places are limited for all activities.
