Once upon a time, there was the Ollomont Mine, where miners worked for hours with their pickaxes in search of chalcopyrite, alongside their faithful friends, the donkeys.
For over a century, the donkeys contributed to the work at the Ollomont Mine, carrying materials from every section to the Valpelline foundries.
Every Wednesday, the mountain school of Esprisarvadzo offers a guided tour of the mine in the company of donkeys, allowing visitors to relive the daily life of 18th-century miners in today’s world.
